Message from the Cabinet Secretary

MRS.PHYLLIS JEPKOSGEI KANDIE, Cabinet Secretary for East Afican Affairs Commerce and Tourism.Let me take this opportunity to welcome you all to this exhibition that showcases diverse tourism attractions that Kenya has to offer; Karibuni sana.

The coming of this event at this point in time signals good tidings in the Meeting Incentives, Conference and Events (MICE) sub sector as Kenya lines up a number of international events to be held this year.

This is yet another opportunity to reinforce Kenya’s resilience and zeal to market her tourism products especially at the backdrop of insecurity that has threatened to erode the remarkable growth the sector has recorded in the recent past.

The event therefore comes at a time when the brand equity of our destination is gaining its ground at the backdrop of many challenges; let me therefore take this opportunity to thank Smart Mice Limited for making the Africa Travel Show a reality.

I am happy to note that the event has attracted interest and attention from the stakeholders; regional and international participation which is a clear testimony and endorsement of Kenya as a world class tourism destination. This is therefore a major boost to the destination’s brand equity.

Among other international events Kenya will be playing host this year include and not limited to SKAL World Congress, World PR conference in Emerging Economies, 5th edition of Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKT) as well as World Trade Organization (WTO) among other meetings.

As I conclude, I appeal to our partners such as Smart Mice Limited to join hands with us as we continue to progressively market the destination as a premier tourism destination.

Also join us in the on-line campaign #whyilovekenya as you become our brand ambassadors in endorsing as a destination to be.

Once again, Karibuni Kenya

Mrs. Phylis Kandie,

Cabinet Secretary, East African Affairs Commerce and Tourism
